Do you have some spare time to deliver food, meals, or pantry bags to clients in the community? Help ensure community members have access to the food and supplies they need by delivering directly to clients in the Fairfield/Bridgeport area.

Volunteers pick up pre-packed meals or pantry bags from our Fairfield office and follow a simple delivery route to bring them to individuals and families in an Upper Fairfield County town, including the Bridgeport, Fairfield, and Westport areas. For many recipients, this delivery is more than just food; it is also a moment of connection and a reminder that they are not alone.

This role is a great fit for someone who is reliable, enjoys driving, and is comfortable making small talk and offering a friendly, respectful interaction at each stop.

The Weekly Pantry Organizer helps ensure our food pantry is welcoming, dignified, and easy to navigate for clients and staff. This role focuses on organization, restocking, and maintaining a calm, respectful space that supports food access with care.

Responsibilities

Schoke Jewish Family Services is seeking a bilingual (Spanish/English) volunteer to support language accessibility within our Food Pantry and across departments.

Greet and assist Spanish-speaking community members

Provide verbal translation support during pantry interactions as needed

Support staff in maintaining a welcoming environment

Translate documents, forms, and informational materials into Spanish

Assist departments in making written communication more accessible

Review translated materials for clarity and tone

Fluent in Spanish and English (written and verbal)

Strong attention to detail

Professional and respectful communication style

Comfortable working independently on assigned translation tasks

Join Schoke JFS as we operate our Mobile Food Pantry at First County Bank in Shippan!

Volunteers will help set-up, organize, stock and distribute food to clients in the First County Bank parking lot. 

Volunteers will be given a short orientation on site to help clients choose their items, stock the shelves and assist with refrigerated and freezer items. This is an opportunity that requires a positive attitude, rolling with it and desire to help those who are experiencing food insecurity. It can be a slow and steady or a fast-paced experience. 

Join Schoke JFS and Maritime Odyssey Preschool as we bring the Freedberg Family Kosher Food Pantry directly into the Norwalk community.

Volunteers will help prepare the mobile pantry for distribution, organize and stock service tables, retrieve refrigerated and frozen items, and pack grocery bags for clients. Volunteers may also help restock items and keep the distribution area organized throughout the event.

This is a hands-on opportunity for volunteers who enjoy working as part of a team and helping community members access nutritious kosher food with dignity and care. No previous pantry experience is required. A brief orientation and instructions will be provided when you arrive.

Please wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing. This opportunity may take place partly outdoors and may involve standing, bending, lifting, and carrying grocery bags or food items.

This opportunity will consist of a volunteer collecting Hirsch & Shabbat Meals from the Schoke JFS Stamford office and bringing them to the Fairfield office. From there, delivery drivers will pick up their meals for distribution. Meal specifications and quantities will be communicated to volunteers on a weekly basis. 

Pantry Open Hours Volunteer

Help create a space where community members can access food with dignity and choice. During pantry hours, volunteers support individuals as they move through the space, help keep shelves stocked and organized, and contribute to a calm and welcoming environment.

This role is about more than distribution. It is about connection, respect, and making sure each person feels seen and supported.

Pantry hours are Mondays and Tuesdays from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Join the Kosher Mobile Food Pantry once a month at Stern Village in Trumbull! Volunteers will work as a team to retrieve perishables, help keep service shelves stocked, and assist clients in packing their bags.

 As well as bring bags of food to individuals who otherwise would not be able to get them.

This opportunity may require some lifting. Volunteers are encouraged to wear closed-toe shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. 

Join Schoke JFS and CBI as we operate the Schoke JFS Mobile Food Pantry.

Volunteers will help set-up, organize, stock and distribute food to clients in the CBI parking lot. 

Volunteers will be given a short orientation on site to help clients choose their items, stock the shelves and assist with refrigerated and freezer items. This is an opportunity that requires a positive attitude, rolling with it and desire to help those who are experiencing food insecurity. It can be a slow and steady or a fast paced experience. 

Join Schoke JFS and CBI as we operate the Schoke JFS Mobile Food Pantry.

Volunteers will come visit the Mobile Food Pantry on behalf of a homebound client. Help pack the bags of groceries per the client's needs and preferences and delivery to them at their home. Client delivery info will be given to volunteers on-site. Deliveries will be in surrounding towns including Bridgeport, Shelton, Trumbull, Monroe Stratford and Fairfield.

Client delivery info will be given to volunteers on-site. Deliveries will be in surrounding towns including Norwalk, Westport, Weston, Wilton.

Join Schoke JFS and Caroline's House as we operate the Schoke JFS Mobile Food Pantry.

Volunteers will help set-up, organize, stock and distribute food to clients outside Caroline's House , a women's educational services program. 

Volunteers will be given a short orientation on site to help clients choose their items, stock the shelves and assist with refrigerated and freezer items. This is an opportunity that requires a positive attitude, rolling with it and desire to help those who are experiencing food insecurity. It can be a slow and steady or a fast paced experience.
