Join us at Congregation Beth El in Norwalk for a meaningful, hands-on day of service, connection, and community at Schoke JFS Mitzvah Day: Giving Back Together.
Volunteers of all ages are invited to participate in a variety of service projects that directly support individuals and families across Fairfield County. This event is designed to be welcoming, flexible, and engaging, offering multiple ways to give back, whether you stay for one project or experience them all
Throughout the day, participants will have the opportunity to:
-
Support our Mobile Food Pantry by helping stock shelves, organize food, and assist with carrying bags, ensuring that every person who visits is met with dignity, access, and care.
-
Create Child Care Kits for Mercy Learning Center, including essential items like baby wipes and thoughtful, dignity-centered notes to support families and caregivers.
-
Assemble Memory & Activity Kits for local seniors, which will be distributed to three senior centers across Fairfield County. These kits include puzzle books, playing cards, large-print reading materials, and conversation prompts and are designed to foster connection and reduce isolation.
-
Build Family Literacy Kits in partnership with Building One Community, supporting early learning, book access, and family engagement through literacy. These kits include bedtime reading books, a soft blanket, and a heartfelt card from the community to the family who receives it, helping families connect and create meaningful moments together.
-
Contribute to a Community-Built Interactive Art Project, where participants help create a collaborative piece that will be featured in the evening Schoke JFS event auction, extending the impact of the day beyond the event itself.
